In 1935, Emmett was 20, and living in Tennessee when he was mauled by a bear. He had severe injuries from the attack when he was found by Rosalie hale, who had been hunting in the area. Emmett reminded Rosalie of her friends baby boy, with the same dark curls, dimples and innocent appearance, so she carried him over a hundred miles to Carlisle cullen, and asked him to spare emmetts life by turning him into a vampire.
